1. Do I have to pay for PRIME?

Yes, a fee will be determined based on your annual income. You do not pay for your healthcare, but you do pay for the excluded services not provided by Manitoba Health.

2. Do I have to be a certain age to enroll?

Yes, 65 or older.

3. Is PRIME a personal care home?

No, PRIME is an alternative to a personal care home. Participants do not stay the night. PRIME is a day program.

4. What if I am experiencing a problem when PRIME is closed?

PRIME has an after-hours nurse who can be reached by telephone in the evenings, weekends and on statutory holidays. If necessary the nurse will come to your home to provide you with assessment and treatment. In an emergency, call 911.

5. Do I have to come to PRIME every day?

No, you can attend from one to five times per week. You are required to come at least once a week.

6. What kind of transportation does PRIME provide?

Participants can choose to be picked up from their homes to go to PRIME at 10 or 11 AM and they can choose to depart from PRIME to go home at 2 or 3 PM. Transportation is provided by Vital Transit and is included in the excluded services fee. Wheelchair accessible buses are used.
