Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at Deer Lodge Centre.

In order to join our team, volunteers must be prepared to commit to at least six months of volunteer service and be a minimum of 16 years of age.

What to expect applying to become a Deer Lodge Centre volunteer:

Step 1 – Complete the application form

  • Applying to volunteer is much like applying for a job. We take many factors into consideration before accepting volunteers to assist with Deer Lodge Centre programs. Please complete the application form as accurately as possible as your application will help us place you in an appropriate volunteer position.
  • If you are under 18 years of age, you must also complete the parental/guardian consent portion on the application form.

Step 2: Interview with Volunteer Services

  • Once we receive your application, the staff from Volunteer Services may call you to arrange a date and time for an interview.
  • The interview is an opportunity for Volunteer Services to learn more about your interests and volunteering goals as well as an opportunity for you to ask questions. We will discuss placements based on your interests and our program needs. You will be asked to provide three references – references from family members or personal friends will not be accepted.

Step 3: Screening

  • Following the interview, a Volunteer Services staff member will contact your references. A Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check/Vulnerable Persons Check will be required.

Step 4: Volunteer Placement

  • If you are a successful candidate, a Volunteer Services staff member will contact you to offer you a volunteer position matched to your skills, abilities and availability. If you accept the position, a start date will be determined and orientation arranged.

Step 5: Training and Orientation

  • All volunteers will go through an orientation session that provides an overview of Deer Lodge Centre and will cover all of the information you will need to know in order to begin volunteering.
  • Welcome to our team, you are now ready to begin volunteering!

Volunteers over 18 years of age

As you are 18 years of age or older, please apply using one of the methods identified below.

  1. Online – Before proceeding, please read the following disclaimer: All information on this Volunteer Application Form whether submitted on line or in paper directly to Deer Lodge Centre will be entered to a website owned by Volgistics, Inc. and not the Deer Lodge Centre or the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). Volgistics is a third part contracted to manage and store all information on volunteers collected by Deer Lodge Centre, including but not limited to: this application, personal information, volunteer assignments, service hours, awards, etc. Volgistics currently stores this information on servers located outside of Canada. This information will be subject to the laws of the country where it is kept. Deer Lodge Centre and the WRHA are not responsible for any lost or misdirected data or for any delays while data is being sent to or stored on the Volgistics website. Information about Volgistics’ Security Features, Privacy policies and Terms of Use can be found on its website.

Volunteers under 18 years of age

As you are under the age of 18, parent / guardian consent is required to volunteer and for the storage of personal information. Therefore the following are ways for you to apply:

  1. Online:
    1. Download and have your parent/guardian complete the Parent / Guardian Consent form.
    2. Complete the Online Youth Volunteer Application form.
      NOTE: If you do not receive a call from Volunteer Services within 5 days of submitting your application please call 204-831-2503.
  2. Mail / Fax:
    1. Download the Youth Volunteer Application form.
