COVID-19 New Case Notification – Lodge 6
February 1, 2021
Please be advised that at Patient at DLC on Lodge 6 (L6) Chronic Care has tested positive for COVID-19. DLC is connecting with primary contacts of the Patients to ensure they are aware of this as well as our plans to prevent the spread of the illness. L6 is considered an Acute Care unit and guidelines for declaring an outbreak in Acute Care requires two positive cases. Therefore, we are not declaring an outbreak on the unit at this time.
Planning is underway to move this Patient to Lodge 4 East to be co-located with other patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. We are closely monitoring all Patients for symptoms. Deer Lodge Centre tests all patients and residents experiencing respiratory symptoms to determine the cause of their illness. This includes testing for COVID-19. Primary contacts will be notified if their family member is being tested along with any results.
COVID-19 Outbreak Update – Tower 6
January 27, 2021
Please be advised that (1) Resident on Tower 6 – Personal Care Home Unit has tested positive for COVID-19. Tower 6 declared an outbreak on the unit on January 6, 2021 and this is the first COVID-19 positive test result received since declaring the outbreak.
We are working closely with Infection Prevention and Control and the Provincial Public Health office to identify close contacts to the affected individual. Planning is also underway to move this Resident to Lodge 4 East to be co-located with other patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Please be advised that a patient at DLC on Lodge 2 has tested positive for COVID-19. DLC is connecting with primary contacts of the Patients to ensure they are aware of this as well as our plans to prevent the spread of the illness.

Positive Test Results for DLC Employee
December 7, 2020
A Deer Lodge Centre Employee on Lodge 6 received a positive test result for COVID-19. Although the risk of transmission is low, increased cleaning of high touch surfaces and equipment has been implemented. In addition, nursing staff on the unit are conducting twice daily symptom checks and vital sign monitoring of patients. Primary contacts for each patient on the unit have been notified.
We continue to work closely with Public Health to ensure all steps are taken to minimize risk to patients, residents, families, and staff. We have further enhanced safety and infection prevention protocols to ensure we are taking every step to prevent any possible transmission.
At this time there are no COVID-19 positive patients or residents at Deer Lodge Centre. If any patients / residents are exhibiting respiratory symptoms they will be tested for the cause of their illness, including for COVID-19. If your family member is being tested, you will be contacted directly.

Positive Test Results for DLC Employees

This week two Deer Lodge Centre Employees received positive test results for COVID-19. The employees work on the following units:
(1) – Lodge 3 West Special Needs Behavioral Unit
(1) – Lodge 6 Chronic Care Unit
We continue to work closely with Public Health to ensure all steps are taken to minimize risk to patients, residents, families, and staff. We have further enhanced safety and infection prevention protocols to ensure we are taking every step to prevent any possible transmission.
At this time there are no COVID-19 positive patients or residents at Deer Lodge Centre. If any patients / residents are exhibiting respiratory symptoms they will be tested for the cause of their illness, including for COVID-19. If your family member is being tested, you will be contacted directly.

This message is to advise you today a DLC staff member on Lodge 4 has tested positive for COVID-19. We want to ensure you are aware of this, as well as to share our plans to prevent the spread of the illness.
Visitation Update
October 31, 2020
The Province of Manitoba has moved the Winnipeg Region to Red critical status for Pandemic response and announced changes to visitation in Hospitals and Personal Care Homes effective Monday, November 2, 2020. The visitation restrictions apply to Deer Lodge Centre and this means we will be reducing the Designated Visitor number to one from the current two. Exceptions to the restrictions will be on a case-by-case basis as outlined by Public Health.
